PROST VS SENNA
BATTLE OF THE CENTURY. SEPARATED BY TENTHS OVER 360 STARTS

THE PROFESSOR BY TWO TENTHS
The result is tight but clear. On wins and points it is Prost by 0.231.
As you can see their win rates are virtually identical ... Prost taking that side of the ledger by just 0.024. But the gap widens when we add his point scoring or place winning. It's point scoring ... the ability to bring the car home in prize winning positions ... that most separates Alain Prost from his immediate peers here at Sports Annual.
Few drivers on the Sports Annual table are more evenly matched than Prost and Senna.
But Prost's incredible raw speed and mastery of his craft often gets lost in the wash when he is compared to his more idolized peer.
Certainly no-one, most of all Alain Prost, doubts Ayrton Senna's speed and car control earned him every accolade he rightly enjoys among F1 fans.
However, the perception Prost was an inferior race driver to Ayrton Senna is simply not born out on track results.
While teams mates and competitors were putting in crowd pleasing fast laps in practice Prost was very often on old tyres and full tanks. Not great for scoring headlines but very effective at scoring race wins and points.
